About MorrisonFilm

MeHello, my name is Shawn. This is where I put things. This site has been active since 2002. A lot has changed since then but basically I'm still writing ridiculous articles about ridiculous things. You can also look at my Flickr photostream which is a lot of fun if you aren't blind.

This site uses Simplelog, a simple Ruby on Rails weblog application. I explain why I use it in this entry. This site is hosted by Dreamhost.

I've made 4 short films that are currently available online. I also host a semi-regular comedic podcast with Garrett Murray that has a 5 star rating on iTunes!

Our obsession with gun humor and awkward moments continues in episode 2 of Maniacal Rage TV. We were also pleased to welcome my friends Matt and Amanda as guest actors on the show.

One exciting new feature this time around is that the main feed includes an enhanced high resolution wide aspect version that works on all video capable iPods and iPhone as well as apple TV. It’s not HD obviously but should look pretty decent on your widescreen TV as well.

As always leave your thoughts in the forums.

After several weeks of planning, shooting and editing I’m proud to finally announce the pilot episode of Maniacal Rage TV. It’ll show up in the standard podcast feed if you’ve already subscribed and should automatically sync up with your video iPod or iPhone. There’s also a larger version that looks great on iPhones for those interested.

Otherwise, check it out in the inline player.

Don’t forget to leave your feedback in the forums!

Despite a great deal of initial skepticism I’ve started to really enjoy Wine Library TV hosted by the Jim Cramer of wine tasting, Gary Vaynerchuk. I came across this neat clip montage that gives you a good flavor for what the show is all about. Good stuff.

A Japanese commercial for Asahi Super Dry Beer featuring Daisuke Matsuzaka in a Red Sox uniform. Could you imagine any American athletes chugging beer in a TV commercial? There would be absolute outrage. Unless it was David Wells. (via Matsuzaka Watch)

Being the baseball fan I am, I’m not sure how I ever missed this video of Randy Johnson killing a bird with a fastball… during a real game.

Andy Samberg’s Digital Short delivers every time. (Worth the one ad you have to sit through. Also, Safari seems to have issues with their player.)

I was talking recently with some friends about how each new season of 24 seems to up the stakes, leaving one to ask, “How will they top themselves this year?” Invariabley they do, though after last season I still asked the question. How can they possibly top themselves with this new season?

Well, um, after watching the Season 6 trailer I think they’re going to find a way to do it.

Stephen Wiltshire draws Rome from memory

The most fascinating part of this is when I wonder whether everyone sees the way this guy sees, whether we all remember as many specific details, if they’re tucked away somewhere in our heads but just don’t have access to it. And if we did have access to all that information all at once whether we’d be a bit less functional in other parts of our lives as well.

On the other hand, his rendering seemed to be 90% accurate 10% fabricated whereas most average humans probably draw 90% fill-in-the-blank, 10% accurate. This is usually caused by not truly looking at what you are drawing. Making assumptions instead of seeing. Maybe the real miracle of Stephen Wiltshire’s art is that he actually trusts his eyes more and doesn’t block it with preconceived notions.

Not sure if the show will be any good, I’ll definitely give it a shot, but these promos they’ve been airing crack me up.
